The class began the 'Look at me Now' project by researching different types of literary devices. Some examples are the setting, theme, antagonist, foreshadowing, etc. Then, we wrote a part of our lives that those literary devices connected to. For example, I wanted my theme to be 'living in the moment' to express my life, and connect back to a literary device. Then, we had to make a product to incorporate the literary devices we researched. Some people showed the literary devices on posters, fake money, someone even showed their devices on a bike helmet. I made my product as a little book. The main challenge for me was waiting too long to choose what to make, so I had little time to make it and it seems rushed.
The easiest part of this project was critiquing, of which being in the High Tech Middle School, I knew how to do quite well, and it was easy for me to see the good parts of people's work. I had a little trouble making helpful critique on what people could improve upon.
Something else I did in this project was waste a lot of class time, or not use it as efficiently as I could have. I only knew what I was going to make a few days before the project was due and I didn't work on the project at home. However, I think I did pretty well on my paragraphs and there were no obvious spelling mistakes that I could find. I learned that I should ask my peers for ideas if I can't think of anything, which is what I ended up doing. I learned also that I should at least start my work on the project the day of so that if I run into any problems, I'll have time to solve them. I think overall, I deserve a B on this project.
